Outstanding Coffee Rub

Here is one of my “go to” rubs!  This aromatic blend of spices will have your mouth watering even before you put it on anything!  Feel free to make adjustments to fit your personal taste.

2 parts espresso coffee
1 part packed brown sugar
1 part chili powder
1/2 part coarse ground black pepper
1/2 part paprika
1/2 part garlic powder
1/2 part onion powder
1/2 part cinnamon
1/2 part cayenne (if you want to reduce the heat, cut this to your taste – that is, after all, what this is all about!)

This mix can be used on any cut of meat but is especially good when smoking beef ribs or grilling steaks.

As always – I do not put any salt directly in my rubs, preferring to “dry brine” my meat prior to a good slather of mustard and then adding the rub on top of it all.  The mustard acts as a “glue” creating a paste that helps the rub stay in place during cooking.

Try using 1/8 cup = 1 part

2 tablespoons = 1/8 cup

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.  Please let me know if you like it.
